« For what is the harmony of colors in a work if not the balance that is created by resonance within the viewer? »
Goodÿ 03/22/2022

If we talk about color harmony today, I would talk about color harmonies. Indeed, I do not conceive of globalizing uniqueness in my creative function, nor in my pictorial practice. Because, I think that, just as for the « Colors-Spaces » who do works, the famous « live together » What underlies the notion of harmony, whatever its field of application, results from the understanding of colors and their interactions, their relationships, their differences and their similarities.

Understanding and talking about « harmony » colors, it is, in my practice in any case, to give everyone the possibility of entering into resonance with the « Colors-Spaces », the work, which is given to him to see. And, from this resonance is born a balance or not, specific to each one. Finding balance for all in the same « Colors-Spaces », would amount to hearing the balance of each, making the sum and not the synthesis, and accepting the apparent chaos. I say apparent, because I think that there is chaos in the multiple only if it is impossible for our senses, and by extension, our intellect, to distinguish each nuance.

The Harmony of Colors, would be, in my opinion, the universality of the work, to the extent that this « Colors-Spaces », which is the essence of a sum of existences in the relationship, is a path of the whole to create a balanced whole of saying.

The universal of which I speak here is not in the sense, in the meaning of the « Colors-Spaces » created, but in the emotion of the encounter when it is received by the viewer. This emotion which is vibratory, even primary resonance, but universal, because everyone feels colors. They attract us, repel us, question us, but do not leave us indifferent, because they even arouse disinterest.

Harmony would therefore reside in respecting relationships, exchanges, contrasts, values, tones, and blends. So many notions that would apply to our existence, that is, to our social reality in the human uses of everyday life. Colors are life, and I draw them on the stretched canvas to lead everyone to question themselves in turn about life, about their life.

Harmony finds its essence in the “surface-color” » which makes sense for the one who experiences it, receives it and welcomes it. Because, what is the harmony of colors in a work if not the balance that is created by resonance within the viewer?

I would be tempted to say that to define is to end, but I remain convinced that our sensitive humanity will resist our desire to contain everything; everything is a question of choice.
